Role

UI Design

The aim of this project was to design a responsive website that effectively showcases a portfolio of web and mobile application development projects.

The challenge

I was tasked with creating a responsive UI Design that would enable the client (a web and app developer) to effectively display their projects to prospective employers and clients.

The website would need to communicate key project information i.e project image, title, description and a GitHub link to the project.

The main objective was for the portfolio website to be up and running quickly so the design must be simple enough for the client to program themselves. A further design constraint was that the website would be developed using a react native library. Consequently, the UI elements must adhere to this design restriction.

Research & Discovery

I conducted stakeholder interviews and competitive research in order to gather information that can be used to guide design of the website.

- The client outlined their requirements as follows:
- Create a simple UI design that will work for both web and mobile screens
- Display programming projects with an image, title and a brief project description
- Include an 'About Me' section
- Include contact information

The solution

Features include:
- An about section
- Project Cards
- Responsive layout
- Contact information
- Links to social media

Initially the client was looking for a light theme website, however after reviewing a few design options they selected a dark themed UI and a single page web design with a simple and clean UI featuring green visual elements that reflected common design themes found in tech based sites.

Style Guide

Reflection

I was able to successfully narrow down the design of the website by ideating various layout solutions.

I combined the required features to create a UI design and prototype that effectively presents the clients projects in a digital format, that is sleek and simple to implement.
